About Kurland Luxury Hotel

For the ultimate in relaxation, hospitality and non-negotiable quality, the Kurland Hotel and Polo Estate is the ideal accommodation venue. This beautiful getaway is nestled along the world-acclaimed Garden Route, one of the continent's most scenic routes stretching from the Eastern Cape to the Western Cape.

This ideal positioning places the hotel close to many stunning beaches, resorts, mountains and forests; offering an unrivalled African experience. It is also close to the coastal villages of Plettenberg Bay and Knysna, and the awe-inspiring Nature's Valley.

Kurland is a 5-star facility. It is relatively small with only 12 suites, guaranteeing personal attention and efficient service. The estate on which it is perched measures 700 hectares with views of the mountains and ocean for the ultimate in South African beauty.

While Kurland is an exclusive resort, it is ideal for the entire family. It is equipped with all of the services and amenities required and it is centrally located, making other tourist attractions easily accessible.

The climate of this particular section of the Garden Route is Mediterranean in nature. Balmy, sunny summers have warm evenings, while winters are cool and sometimes wet, but comfortable. This is not a malaria-risk zone, so travellers can feel safe and secure while visiting Kurland.
Kurland Hotel and Polo Estate is currently owned and managed by the grandson of the Baron that first purchased the land over 50 years ago. He named it Kurland after his birthplace in the Baltic. Today, Peter Behr runs the hotel with the utmost pride and respect in its heritage. It has been so successful under his caring hand that it was awarded Runner-up in the prestigious Tatler Hotel of the Year Award in 2002.

Each suite has been decorated individually, with a focus on elegance and style. Attention to detail is key to the outfitting of this hotel. The various art pieces, fabrics and furniture pieces were sourced from all over the world and are recognised as being both rare and valuable. As they are carefully positioned in each room, they work in harmony with the surrounds to create a charming air of all things chic and tasteful.

The Kurland Hotel has been recognised in Tatler's 101 Best Hotels of the World List for three consecutive years, and was accredited with the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List 2006 Status for ambience and design. These accolades are not taken lightly and the hotel continues to work towards excellence.
