For an innovative alternative, guests of Xaranna Tented Camp are urged to experience game viewing from a mokoro, the traditional dug out canoe, or from a motor boat. A bush walk is a fabulous day-time activity for the wildlife enthusiast, and game drives offer an entirely new range of game viewing. |

The Xaranna Safari Shop is a fantastic retreat for the dedicated shopper, and stocks chic safari gear, as well as curios and keepsakes. Activities Certainly, a major part of the Xaranna Tented Camp experience is the selection of exciting game drives, serene mokoro trips and fascinating bush walks. Regardless of the length of your stay, be sure to indulge in at least one of these activities, which promise to remain a treasured memory of your time in Botswana. Game Xaranna Tented Camp is situated within the five distinct habitats of the incredible Okavango Delta wilderness. AS such, it is able to support a wide range of fauna and flora. The prehistoric elephants roam in large herds, while the endangered African wild dog and semi-aquatic red lechwe antelope share these plains. The rare Pel's fishing owls are exciting finds and are only part of the vast array of birdlife in the area. Location Xaranna Tented Camp is perched right on the banks of the permanent Okavango Delta in Botswana, where 25 000 hectares are home to innumerable wildlife species. To reach Xaranna Tented Camp, guests will fly into the Xudum airstrip, which is a 20-minute flight from the main Maun airport. From Xudum, a 45-minute game drive takes one right to the luxury tented accommodation. Alternatively, guests may chose to structure their trip to Xaranna Tented Camp to include a short game drive followed by a mokoro or boat ride into Camp, depending on the water levels. Because the Okavango Delta is a malaria area, special precautions need to be taken. Climate Weather The hot summer months of October to April are also the wettest. Temperatures reach a maximum of 40ºC during mid-day, and usually drop to 25ºC at night. Winters, which extend from May to September, are dry and cool, with icy evenings and early mornings. Rainfall Summertime brings with it the gorgeous afternoon thundershowers, usually at its peak during December, January and February, sometimes continuing into March. These rainy conditions invite migrant birds. The average rainfall is 450 mm to 500 mm per annum. These temperate weather conditions mean that Xaranna Tented Camp is ideal for visitors throughout the year. |
