drive from Johannesburg.

A suspended teak bridge leads into the main lodge area where guests are welcomed with a refreshing cocktail. This main lodge area consists of a well-stocked bar, comfortable, cosy lounge and dining area with central fireplace and DSTV, well-appointed library and conference room all leading onto the elevated patio which offers magnificent views and unforgettable African sunsets.

Accommodation

Guests are accommodated in beautifully
styled log cabin bush suites which accommodate 2 persons. The en-suite bathroom offers superb bush views from the corner bath and inside shower. The bathroom also contains two hand crafted basins and a separate toilet, accessorised with luxuriously soft towels and a range of bathroom products. The outdoor shower is a special feature which allows visitors to experience the bush "au naturelle".
Standard features in the bush suites are overhead fans, fireplaces, bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and digital safe. Also provided are mosquito nets, electric blanket, nightgowns and hairdryer.

Dining

The kitchen and dining area at Wooded Peaks is situated in the main lodge area. Meal times are always a gourmet delight and for guests' convenience there are several settings in which to enjoy their meal. The elegantly set dining area with its central fireplace, the boma which provides the ideal African dining experience under a canopy of stars, or the covered patio which provides a romantic and/or private setting with magnificent views of the valley. The fascinating sounds of the wild at night add to this special experience. The lodge offers breakfast / brunch after the morning drive, high tea in the afternoon and a sumptuous four course dinner at night. All meals are freshly prepared to guests requirements. Guests are requested to advise the Lodge of any special dietary requirements before arrival.

Activities at Wooded Peaks Game Lodge

The Welgevonden Game Reserve is a vast scenic wilderness of 40 000ha. This malaria free game reserve is home to the Big 5, cheetah, hippo, a variety of antelope, brown hyena, jackal, zebra, giraffe and over 250 different bird species.

The field guide conducts two game drives each day, an early morning and late afternoon drive. Each game drive is a unique experience as guests explore this Big 5 reserve which offers an array of wildlife, bird species and reptiles. A bush walk can be arranged to view the historically significant bushman paintings in the Reserve.

Enjoy an early morning stop for tea / coffee in the bush to watch the sunrise and enjoy sundowners on the afternoon drive whilst watching an African bush sunset. The return drive to the lodge is a short night drive with game viewing by spotlight.

Weather / Temperatures

Summer months: October through to April, this is also normally the rainy season. The days are warm to hot, with evenings cool and pleasant. +-22 to 38 degrees Celsius.

Winter months: May to September, the days are mild with the evenings and mornings cool to cold. +-5 to 22 degrees Celsius.
