The Winelands Golf Lodges are stunning self-catering retreats nestled amongst the pristine greenery of the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate. Stellenbosch has been renowned for its stunning vineyards and world-class wines since the arrival of the Dutch and the French Huguenots centuries ago. In fact, Stellenbosch and the nearby towns of Paarl, Franschhoek, Somerset West and Cape Town (a mere 45-minute drive away) have earned the entire Western Cape an enviable reputation for outstanding flavours and vintages.

De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate stretches for 300 hectares and is, in itself, a working wine farm. In addition, olive groves and lavender flourish in the rich soil and lie alongside pristine fairways to create an ambience of absolute natural perfection.

Accommodation

The lodges at De Zalze ooze luxury in their furnishings, amenities and service. Each lodge boasts breath-taking views of the 10th fairway and the Overberg Mountains. The holiday lodges offer a choice of one to four bedrooms, and all enjoy the elegance of traditional Cape architecture with their white walls, sheet metal roofs and wooden window frames and doors.

The majority of these gorgeous lodges also have a covered outdoor area in which to relax to the sounds of the birds, while being cooled by gentle summer breezes. The tiled and carpeted interiors complement the stylish fixtures in bathrooms and kitchens.

The group of holiday lodges is neighbour to the De Zalze clubhouse, looking onto the 10th fairway. This means that the stunning golf course and all of its convenient amenities are situated within just a short walk from each of the lodges.

In the centre of the lodge complex is the amenities centre and swimming pool. This includes a gym with all the equipment, lounge and Hospitality Club House. This is also the central reservations point. One-Bedroom Lodges

Facilities

The Winelands Golf Lodges promise stunning accommodation. In addition, there are convenient and fun facilities in the complex, guaranteed to suit and occupy visitors of all ages. The reception and concierge staff are available for 24 hours a day, and will care for the unique needs of each guest. Access control is of utmost importance, as is secure parking and trained security staff.

The 18-hole golf course is available to the guests, and assures both the experienced and the trainees of a most fulfilling day on the greens.

The swimming pool and separate children's pool are great places for guests to relax, catch up on their books, or soak up the hot South African sun. Please be aware of the harmful effect of the sun and apply a high-factor sunscreen to yourself and your children at all times. Towels are provided and children must have adult supervision at all times.

Sample some of South Africa's finest wines or sip on a refreshing ale at the fully-licensed bar. Additional facilities include wireless Internet connectivity, conference facilities for up to 15 delegates in the Hospitality Club House and a Pro Shop for avid golfers to stock up on clothing and equipment.

Although each of the lodges at the Winelands Golf Estate is self-catering, they enjoy the usual hotel services. Housekeeping services mean that the lodges are kept neat and clean. In addition, a concierge and a tourist information desk add to this world-class facility.

Reception - Trained staff are available 24 hours a day to assist with check-in, check-out and guest queries and requests. This area is central to all the lodges and is committed to ensuring that guests are as comfortable as possible.
Concierge - The concierge will assist with tourist information; advising on local attractions, assisting with bookings and planning itineraries. The concierge is based at reception for added convenience.
Security - Security guards and access control are operative throughout the day and night, so guests can feel secure amidst such peaceful surrounds.
Housekeeping - In addition to a daily 'refresh service', linen and towels are replaced weekly for the comfort and convenience of the guests.
Business Services - Corporate guests have access to wireless Internet, fax machines and photocopiers.
Personal Laundry - Laundry and dry cleaning services are available to guests.
Airport Shuttle - Shuttles to and from Cape Town's International Airport may be arranged by staff at the reception desk, if necessary.

  • Walk, cycle or hike - popular places like the Panorama Trail (17.1 km), Swartboskloof Trail (18km), Granny's Forest and the Vineyard hiking Trail (24km).
  • Tour the many wine routes - and sample local wines, many of them award-winning. Stellenbosch alone has 106 cellars! Nearby towns known for their cellars and vineyards include Somerset West, Paarl, Cape Town and Franschhoek.
  • Stellenbosch - Apart from its vineyards, Stellenbosch is also a historically-steeped university town, established in 1679 by Dutch Settlers. Brimming with galleries, museums, old-world architecture and natural beauty, just walking its streets is fascinating and rewarding.
  • Nature Reserves - Jonkershoek and Assegaaibosch are two of the most beautiful reserves in the area. They boast an awesome array of plants, birds, mammals, predators, insects and more, including the Leopard, Baboon, Black Eagle and Spotted Eagle Owl. Guests of the reserve can walk, hike, cycle or ride on horseback through various trails.
  • Spier Wine Estate - In addition to its superior restaurant and wines, Spier is also home to the Cheetah Outreach Programme. Visitors have the opportunity to learn more about these magnificent animals and even enter their cage. Horse riding excursions, encounters with Eagles, the gift shop and the arts and crafts make Spier all the more special amongst locals and visitors alike.
  • Oom Samie se Winkel (Uncle Sam's Shop) - In the heart of Stellenbosch, this little shop demonstrates true South African pride. All of its confectionary, jams, antiques, wines, furniture, curios and sweets are authentically South African.
  • Burgerhuis Museum - Once a private home in the late 1700's, this museum reflects what life at this time was like for the 'upper crust'. It displays true Cape Dutch architecture.
  • Butterfly World - Young and old will delight in witnessing the largest free-flying park for butterflies in the whole of southern Africa.
  • Groot Drakenstein Correctional Facility - As the last place in which former-President Nelson Mandela was incarcerated, this maximum security prison plays a major role in the history of this country. The bronze statue of this role model has been placed in the exact area in which he walked his first steps to freedom.
  • Afrikaanse Taal Monument - This iconic monument, situated on top of Paarl Rock, was erected to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of Afrikaans as an official language in South Africa.
  • Wijnland Auto Museum - Vintage car enthusiasts simply must pay this charming museum a visit.
Location

The Winelands Golf Lodges is located just three kilometres outside of Stellenbosch and only 45 minutes from the Mother City, Cape Town. In addition, it is within close proximity to Cape Town's International Airport. Its proximity to Cape Town means that popular attractions, such as Table Mountain, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Robben Island, Clifton Beach, Camps Bay and so on, are easily accessible to all guests of the lodges. In addition, the Western Cape is known for its prime whale watching opportunities, shark cage diving and adventure sports.

  • Turn off onto the R310 (Baden Powell Drive) Stellenbosch
  • Turn right onto Annandale Road
  • Turn left onto R44, leading towards Stellenbosch
  • At traffic lights turn left into De Zalze Estate
