Tau Game Lodge, (Tau meaning Place of the Lion), lies in a malaria free area in the heart of the 75 000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve. Rocky outcrops dot the spectacular landscape made up of scattered hillocks, open plains and sweeping grasslands. The position of the lodge affords uninterrupted views across a bird-populated pan with the chalets following the curve of the water's edge. Animals and birds can be viewed from your private sundeck or outdoor shower.

After the evening game drive African delicacies are served from the open boma around the campfire under starry African skies

The Lodge is decorated in true African style with unusual artifacts, masks and large rugs decorating the high-ceilinged foyer. Vivid animal-print fabrics adorn settees in the upside bar. Guest areas comprise a spacious reception, comfortable lounge, indoor and open-air dining areas and a bar deck suspended on stilts. The bar deck affords excellent views of a busy waterhole, with animals approaching the water from the opposite bank. During mealtimes guests can enjoy generous traditional feasts either in the dining room or around a huge, crackling fire in the boma.

Accommodation

Each chalet is equipped with an en-suite bathroom and private wooden deck with open-air shower, allowing one privacy to enjoy the full bush experience.

Corner chalet units, on either side of the lodge, are linked by a communal outdoor lounge and can be utilised for couples travelling together or for parents with small children sharing the room.
 
Activities / Facilities

The Big Five can be viewed in the Groot Marico area, famous for the beauty of its moonrises and intriguing ancient rock formations. 4x4 game excursions with professional guides depart from the lodge, on which big game, rich birdlife and many species of mammals, including the endangered wild dog can be seen. After a day of game viewing guests can relax around the pool and enjoy superb views from the deck.
