The luxurious 5 star Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge is situated in spectacular, malaria free desert wilderness in the foothills of the largest private nature reserve in Southern Africa. The Namib Rand Nature Reserve comprises 180 000 hectares in The Namib which is known as 'The Living Desert' with vast open spaces, endless horizons and jagged mountain peaks. The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world and features the highest sand dunes. Unique species of wildlife adapted to these desert conditions such as the rare oryx antelope, can be found here.

The Game Reserve

The Namib Rand Nature Reserve consists of 4 main habitats. Rocky hillsides which are the preferred terrain for zebra and dassie (rock rabbit). Seasonal grassy plains which attract the rare oryx, aardwolf, bat eared fox and herds of springbuck. Also to be found on the grassy plains are hyena, caracal and the elusive leopard. Sand dunes which are home to the golden mole. The Reserve also
contains over 60 species of birds including various birds of prey.
The Lodge

This exclusive Lodge is renowned for its spacious, air-conditioned stone and glass desert villas overlooking the beautiful Namib Desert. The split level main lodge features an African curio shop, beautiful glass fronted dining room, fire lit bar, comfortable sitting room, mezzanine library containing a CD and book collection and sparkling, spring fed swimming pool. Guests will enjoy viewing game at a nearby waterhole from well placed viewing decks.

Accommodation

Designed to capture the vastness and solitude of the Namib Desert, each stone
and glass villa is cleverly positioned so as to afford absolute privacy.

Villas feature a shaded private veranda, split-level bedroom with glass encased en suite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers, living room with fireplace, fully stocked personal bar, game spotting scope and service-intercom to the main lodge.

Dining

The cuisine is delicious Pan-African accompanied by a fine selection of wines from the extensive wine cellar. Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge is renowned for its exciting bush breakfasts, dinners and picnics in dramatic desert locations.

Activities

Guests at the Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge are invited to explore this unique region with the lodge's expert rangers and naturalists. Activities offered include exhilarating game drives, interpretive wilderness walks, bird watching, quad biking on all terrain four wheeled motorcycles, 4x4 excursions in open 4x4 vehicles and hot air balloon safaris. Excursions to the famous Sossusvlei sand dunes - the highest in the world - and the spectacular Sesriem Canyon will ensure guests an unforgettable desert-safari experience. Stargazing with a knowledgeable guide is also offered to those guests interested in the night skies.
