The unique and exclusive Shibula Lodge and Bush Spa is situated in the malaria-free Welgevonden Private Game Reserve in the heart of the Waterberg Biosphere. Just a
mere 3 hour scenic drive from Johannesburg and also accessible by air, Shibula Lodge offers guests the best of both worlds - Africa
at its untamed best...with exceptional service and luxurious comfort.

Superbly trained staff at Shibula will
endeavour to accommodate guests wherever possible from a special breakfast on the riverbank under the watchful eye of a ranger, to finding a good book to read in the comfort of a bush chair.

Shibula Lodge and Bush Spa offers exceptional game viewing in the surrounding Welgevonden Private Game Reserve with over 26 000 hectares of diverse terrain ranging from open savannah to majestic mountains. This area is home to Africa's Big Five as well as numerous antelope and more than
270 bird species. Adventurous game drives
will offer sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, antelope and gemsbok. Activities include pre-breakfast or mid morning game drives or bush-walks with qualified rangers
and trackers, light lunch and teas, evening game drives with sundowners, and cosy,
boma dinners under the African sky.
Accommodation

Due to the unique decorating style of the Lodge, Shibula has been named a "lady in the bush". Classic lace and crystal blend subtly with an authentic ethnic feel. The culture of Africa is represented in various handpicked decorative pieces with special attention being paid to detail. Each chalet is individually furnished in a different style, which reflects the name of the unit.

The Royal Suite at Shibula features a private lounge with fireplace, two en-suite bedrooms, bathroom which includes a separate toilet, 2 basins, shower and a Victorian bath, an outside shower, as well as a private patio with plunge pool.

The Presidential Suite at Shibula features a private lounge with fireplace, an en-suite bedroom with spa bath in the bedroom complimented by a cosy fireplace, the bathroom features a separate toilet, 2 basins, a shower and a Victorian bath as well as an outside shower.

Facilities

The superbly decorated main lodge boasts a library - well stocked with information on wildlife, birds and plants - and an elegant lounge and dining area, complete
with a baby grand piano. A sprawling deck with panoramic views leads on to a communal swimming pool, the perfect venue to sip a sundowner and watch the magnificent African sunset.

The well-being of guests is paramount at Shibula. The well-stocked, specially designed wine cellar compliments the healthy, distinctly African-inspired cuisine and discreet, personalised service allows guests to enjoy a unique combination of exciting game viewing and relaxing spa activities arranged according to the needs of the individual.

Health and Beauty Spa

An internationally trained therapist will provide relaxing and rejuvenating
treatments in the Bush Spa accompanied by the natural sounds and smells of the African bush. Local products with indigenous base oil ingredients such as Marula
and Baobab, rooibos extract and Kalahari Watermelon will enhance this unique experience with an abundance of exotic herbs and essential oils to provide the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation.

Typical daily activities at Shibula Game Lodge (subject to change)

Day of Arrival:
  • 13h00 - Check in at the main gate of the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, enjoy welcome drinks upon arrival for refreshment
  • 13h15 - Depart to the Shibula Game Lodge which is a 45 minute drive away from the main gate
  • 14h00 - Arrive at the Shibula Game Lodge, unpack and settle into your private Chalet
  • 15h00 - Enjoy high tea at the Shibula's Main Lodge
  • 15h45 - Depart on the exciting evening game drive, stop en-route for
    snacks and a sundowner
  • 19h45 - Return from evening game drive back to the Shibula Game Lodge
  • 20h00 - Enjoy dinner in either the boma or the main restaurant at Shibula
The Next morning:
  • 05h30 - Wake up call for the early morning game drive
  • 06h00 - Enjoy coffee and rusks in the Main Lodge at Shibula
  • 06h15 - Depart on early morning game drive, stop en-route for snacks
  • 09h45 - Return from morning game drive back to the Lodge
  • 10h00 - Full English breakfast is served on the deck
  • 11h30 - Time at leisure to enjoy the health and beauty spa and the swimming pool
The following Children's Policy is applicable at Shibula Game Lodge & Bush Spa
  • Children under the age of 10 years will only be allowed at the Shibula Game Lodge by prior arrangement and taking existing reservations into consideration.
  • Management reserves the right to make alternative arrangements during their stay on game drives and for dinner.
