Popallin Safari Ranch borders Zimbabwe, perched on the banks of the Limpopo River. This accommodation lies just 60km from South Africa's world-renowned Kruger National Park, closest to the Pafuri gate. Popallin
Safari Ranch is in the midst of 10,000 ha (22,000 acres) of unblemished bushveld. This wilderness is home to an impressive display of South Africa's precious wildlife, where predator and prey, fauna and flora meet on a platform of the true African "wild". This natural habitat has been made accessible to the guests of Popallin Safari Ranch, allowing them the
prime opportunity to experience the unique heartbeat of Africa.

Notably, this ranch is also part of the Lion & Buffalo Research Project and, as such, homes many of these impressive beasts.

All accommodation at Popallin Safari Ranch boasts clean running water and 24-hour electricity.

Accommodation

De Wet's Camp

14 beautiful and fully-catered en-suite chalets make up De Wet's Camp, accommodation
that is reminiscent of colonial elegance and true South African hospitality.

Popallin Safari Ranch's guests are invited to dine in the open-air lapa and enjoy
the convenient bar facilities. A comfortable lounge area is also available for
ultimate comfort and relaxation. A refreshing plunge pool and well-equipped gym ensure that guests are revitalised after a busy day spent exploring the African bushveld.

Cable television, satellite phone, cellphone, fax and e-mail facilities are available for the convenience of our guests.

Zebra Camp

The Zebra Camp comprises three self-catering chalets set in intimate surrounds. This secluded camp provides accommodation for up to eight guests. The
furnishings and décor is traditionally South African, and ensures that guests experience the real wild in all aspects of their stay in Popallin Safari Ranch.

SiGonde Camp

The SiGonde Camp is located on the banks of the fantastic Nwandzi River, and offers guests the opportunity to become truly self-sufficient, to take in the serene surrounds and basic simplicity of living in harmony with nature within a safe environment. Despite this, home comforts such as clean running water and indoor ablution facilities remain part of the SiGonde offering. This camp is a popular among avid self-drive 4 x 4-ers, and allows prime game viewing.

Venda Village

The traditional Venda Village was built on the ruins of a genuine village of the
same nature. This authentic recreation allows guests to experience the life of the indigenous people, who occupied this area over 100 years ago. As part of the experience, guests are invited to experience the arts of pottery and hut construction, as well as dancing the Domba to the resonating beat of the African drums.

Activities

This area of South Africa is so rich in culture, wildlife and vegetation, that available activities are endless and varied.

Wildlife - The host of animal species in the area are best seen on 4 x 4 game drives, boat trips on the Nwandzi River, horseback riding, or guided walks through the veld. Day trips to the Kruger National Park are also a must during your stay at Popallin Ranch. Avid bird-watching enthusiasts will be well rewarded, as an array of birdlife perches and soars overhead. The lion and buffalo breeding programme is a feature of Popallin Ranch.

Sights - Must-sees during your time at Popallin Ranch include the traditional Venda Village and the largest tree in Africa, aptly named the "Big Tree". Guests are also invited to join the locals for dinners at the Venda Village, while enjoying their dancing display.

Limpopo River - Popallin Ranch guests are able to enjoy the banks of the gorgeous Limpopo River on foot, via 4 x 4 trails, which transport them along 35km of mixed terrain, or on quad bikes. Break for a braai - a South African barbecue.

Gravel Airstrip - For a unique experience, indulge in a fly-in Safari, where the host
of wildlife residents is viewed from the African skies.

Golf - An A D.D.V. Design Par 3, 4 and 5 golf course has been designed in this area, and ranges from 127 meters to 435 meters long. The 9-hole course has eighteen tees, and totals 4000m in length. Fencing is secured all around the course, creating a safe environment.

Breeding programme - Currently, the White Lion and Disease-Free Buffalo Breeding Project is underway, and seeks to protect both of these magnificent species.

Functions

Popallin Ranch is the ideal venue for a wide variety of functions. Conference facilities for up to 40 delegates are available, which make Popallin Ranch perfect
for corporate conferences, meetings, or team building initiatives. Other functions include:

Location Popallin Ranch is easily accessible. From Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport, fly to Polokwane (1.5 hours). From here, a 2-hour drive to the ranch provides ample opportunity to work up a hunger and prepare one for the tranquil locale of this accommodation.

Alternatively, guests are able to travel the entire distance by road from Johannesburg, which takes approximately 5 hours.
