PThe Pestana Kruger Lodge enjoys prime positioning within South Africa's popular Mpumalanga Province. It is situated within walking distance from one of the gates to world-renowned Kruger National Park and just over 400 kilometres from the bustling metropolis of Johannesburg and its international airport. It is bordered by the Crocodile River, which is humbling to watch, not only for its own powerful magnificence, but also for the animals that use it to drink from, play in and cool themselves.

  • Swaziland - approximately one hour's drive
The European Hotel Management Magazine recognised the Pestana Group as the only Portuguese group in the European Top 50 survey. This is an impressive accomplishment of which Pestana is very proud.

Accommodation

There are 74 tastefully decorated rooms at Pestana Kruger Lodge. Each exudes an air of Africa in its décor, along with stunning views from the private balconies. Other standard amenities include air-conditioning, television with satellite, hairdryer, direct-dial telephone, electronic safe, an en-suite bathroom and tea-and coffee-making facilities. Guests may request that the bar fridge be stocked and are welcome to make use of the laundry service and room service.
Of the 74 rooms, there are:
  • Standard Rooms - twin beds, shower only, garden view, smoking options available.
  • Deluxe Rooms - king-size beds, separate bath and shower, river views.
  • Family Rooms - one queen-size bed, one sleeper couch. One of these rooms has been altered to accommodate physically disabled guests in wheelchairs.
There are two suites available - the Rhino and the Hippo (or Presidential).
  • Rhino Suite (sleeps four) - king-size bed, two bathrooms, separate bath and shower, private garden with swimming pool. Beautiful views of the surrounding garden.
  • Hippo Suite (sleeps two) - king-size bed, two bathrooms, separate shower and bath, lounge, work area for the executive and gorgeous private garden.
Dining

There are various dining options available to guests of the Pestana Kruger Lodge in Mpumalanga.

The Buhlebethu Restaurant is within the lodge itself, overlooking the waters of the river. The menu boasts modern flavours and typical South Africa cuisine. Guests may request breakfast packs from Buhlebethu if they plan to set out early in the morning. The lunch and dinner menu is A-la-Carte.

Crocafellas Restaurant is a larger facility next to the lodge and has been built over the water. As diners enjoy bistro fare, they can watch the seven resident crocodiles in the water directly below the restaurant. Crocafellas opens at 08h00 and closes when the last guests leave. It has proven to be a popular venue for events and celebrations.

Refreshing sundowners, glamorous cocktails and tasty South African wines can best be savoured at the Eshonalanga Bar. Guests may sit on the deck and take in the sights and sounds of Africa as they recount their day spent in the bushveld.

Guests requiring a bit more privacy are welcome to make use of room service, which is in operation from 07h00 until 22h00. A range of sandwiches and salads are on offer for light snacks.

The Boma promises guests a novel, authentic African dining experience. Between 20 and 150 people can sit around the campfire and enjoy scrumptious flavours, while taking in the beauty of the starry skies for which Africa is famous. Meals must be ordered in advance.

Conferencing

Pestana Kruger Lodge is not only ideal for holiday-makers, but also for conference delegates seeking a corporate getaway. The conference area can be divided into four smaller rooms, each with air-conditioning, blinds, natural light, data projector (at a nominal fee), flip chart, white board, stage, overhead projector and comfortable seating. These facilities seat a maximum of 150 delegates and packages are available on prior arrangement with the lodge.

Activities

While the beauty of the lodge and its surrounds lulls many guests into a sense of total relaxation, there are activities available at Pestana as well as within its surrounds.

The Camelot Health Spa offers weary guests a range of treatments and therapies to sooth and revitalise. Not only are these treatments administered by expert therapists, but they are also enjoyed within an ambience of complete serenity and pampering. The spa has a hydro, double treatment room, private treatment garden, dedicated relaxation area and a steam room. The indoor pool is next to the spa.

Other facilities at Pestana Kruger Lodge include two outdoor swimming pools, table tennis facilities, a super tube, board games, Internet access, stargazing equipment, airport transfers and free parking.
