Nungubane Game Lodge

5 STAR LIMPOPO LODGE ACCOMMODATION
WELGEVONDEN GAME RESERVE LODGES

A pleasant 3-hour drive from the buzzing commercial epicentre of South Africa, Johannesburg, and travellers arrive at Nungubane Game Lodge in the breath-taking Waterberg region. The lodge is, in fact, situated within the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve in the lush, fertile area of Limpopo.

This area is particularly popular amongst visitors for its year-round temperate conditions and the absence of malaria, making it ideal for the entire family. Welgevonden is one of South Africa's top reserves and is home to a range of wildlife, birds and plants. It extends for 24 000 hectares and is home to Elephants, White Rhinos (currently 50 in residence), Leopards, Buffaloes, Lions, many antelope species and approximately 250 different bird species.

Nungubane Game Lodge oozes a true sense of African hospitality and warmth combined with efficient and attentive staff and superior food.

Accommodation

Only 10 guests can be accommodated at Nungubane at any time. This exclusivity allows each valued visitor to take in the luxurious surrounds and pampering for which the lodge is acclaimed. The five chalets are large and open, while their individual decks boast awe-inspiring views.

There are two chalets with a king-size bed and three with twin beds. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom as well as an outdoor shower for a truly African experience. Other standard facilities include ceiling fans, tea and coffee stations, fireplaces and a private deck for every chalet.

Facilities

There is a sparkling blue swimming pool for the use of Nungubane guests, hot and weary from the African sun. On chilly winter evenings, relax in the roomy lodge. Delicious dishes can be enjoyed on the deck or in the open-air boma, with the only light coming from the fire.

Activities

Relaxation is a top priority at Nungubane Game Lodge. Guests wanting to experience the sounds and sights of the African bush are advised to take a game drive in open vehicles, arrange walking safaris with the lodge, watch some of the many bird species soaring and chirping overhead, or have a meal under the African sky. There are several areas in which to swim, and these always prove popular during a hot summer's day.

Welgevonden

Welgevonden is a reserve within the Limpopo's Waterberg Region. It is perched on the Waterberg Plateau and comprises a rich combination of towering mountains and deep ravines. This is a malaria-free zone and one of the country's best renowned game reserves.

Welgevonden is a savannah area, meaning that its vegetation is that of wooden grasslands. This is a particularly abundant biome in terms of plant- and animal species.

Interestingly, Welgevonden is recognised as being an International Biosphere Area. As such, the preservation and protection of the environment is of utmost importance. It is involved with many training and education initiatives to enlighten the youth about such important factors. These include research, monitoring and information exchange.
