Nungu Game Lodge is situated in 6000 hectares of stunning South African bushveld, in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains. Along with these spectacular surrounds, Nungu is only three hours from Johannesburg and the OR Tambo International Airport. This means that it is isolated enough to promise our esteemed guests complete peace and serenity, while close enough to ensure convenience and accessibility for all.

With its wild animals, range of enthralling vegetation and a variety of bird species soaring overhead, Nungu acts as an apt representation of the country in which it is so idyllically positioned. Views of the mountains, the Mokolo River, the neon orange sunsets and the black night skies promise a truly unique and completely authentic African experience.

In order to optimise the viewing opportunities for guests, sizeable viewing decks and daily game drives are made available, exposing the fauna and flora of the Waterberg Region.

Accommodation

Nungu Game Lodge comprises four luxurious suites, each accommodating up to two guests at a time and all perched along the Mokolo's river bank. These have a glass front to create a sense of oneness with the environment, as well as an air-conditioning unit, mini bar, safe and telephone. There is an indoor shower as well as an outdoor one for guests who cannot tear themselves away from the natural splendour that is South Africa. A private heated plunge pool and a deck make for the perfect touches to these elegant lodgings.
Presidential
The Presidential Suite is a double-storey facility for up to four guests. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a private dressing area and lounge. This suite has a private plunge pool (heated), two viewing decks, a second bedroom and bathroom, guest toilet and fully-equipped kitchen. Should guests require some extra attention, a private butler and chef may be appointed.

Fig Tree Suites
The two Fig Tree Suites are also free-standing and are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, a large lounge / living area, an outdoor shower and an outdoor bedroom. These suites accommodate up to four people and are perfect for honeymooners.

Safaris

Safaris are conducted in open Land Rovers each morning and evening. Guests are advised to indulge in drives at both times to increase the number of species they see hunting, drinking and playing during the cooler, quieter hours of the day. Qualified rangers conduct the tours to ensure that they are able to add important information and answer the questions of the guests. Walks are also available, and promise a more intimate and first-hand encounter of wildest Africa. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted on safaris or walks, and children between 6 and 12 years of age are only permitted at the sole discretion of lodge management.

  • Proceed straight through town to Vaalwater (60km)
  • Proceed through Vaalwater until Total Garage
  • Turn right to Lephalale (88km)
  • About 50km from Vaalwater, turn left at Witkop Road
  • Nungu gate on the left hand side after 12km
