Nguni River Lodge is situated in the malaria free Addo Elephant National Park, an hour's drive from Port Elizabeth. Nguni River Lodge offers guests luxurious accommodation with spectacular views over the floodplain alive with game and the Zuurberg Mountain in the distance.

The name Nguni refers to the ancestors of approximately 60% of blacks in South Africa today and an ancestral breed of cattle still carries this name.

Accommodation:

The architecture of the Lodge incorporates a Xhosa cultural element as well as being conscious of environmental conservation.
Guests are housed in seven luxurious double guest suites and one King suite named after the colour patterns of the Nguni cattle breed. These suites are individually decorated using Nguni skins as the base colour to compliment the shapes, textures and colours of the surrounding landscape. Each suite boasts a private plunge pool and balcony to optimize the views. A unique feature of each guest room is the romantic private bathroom with a huge stone bath and outdoor shower from which guests can enjoy panoramic views with possible game sightings.

Guests are invited to experience the lodge's friendly hospitality at its well stocked bar, relaxing in the comfortable lounge, or assisting with the preparation of African cuisine in the interactive kitchen. The Nguni River Lodge prides itself on the high standard of personal service offered by its staff ensuring all who visit a memorable stay.

Activities:

Whilst the abundant wildlife is the main attraction at Nguni River Lodge, Addo Elephant National Park is about to become the only wildlife park in the world where the African Big seven can be viewed in their natural environment. With the expansion of the park visitors will be able to see the big five as well as whales and great white sharks, all in one park comprising a 240 000 hectare terrestrial zone and a 120 000 hectare marine zone.
Guided game drives on open land rovers and walks led by professional guides offer the opportunity to get up close to the Big Five and a variety of smaller animals, birds and reptile species can be spotted with the help of an informed eye. Nguni River Lodge offers bird watchers 240 species of birds and for the more adventurous, activities such as elephant back safaris and horse riding.
