Nambiti Plains Private Game Lodge

5 STAR LODGE IN ZULULAND
KWAZULU NATAL, SOUTH AFRICA

The Nambiti Plains Private Game Lodge has achieved an impressive 5-star rating for its all-encompassing luxury. Situated in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal, the lodge is within close proximity to major tourist and commercial centres Johannesburg (approximately 3.5 hours' drive) and Durban (approximately 2.5 hours' drive). In addition, this opulent retreat enjoys malaria-free status, making it particularly safe for children and the elderly.

Africa is known for its mysterious sense of adventure and intrigue as explorers continue to traverse these plains, telling tales of close encounters with the wildest of animals. Guests of Nambiti will delight in the awe-inspiring sunsets as the black silhouettes of mighty lions finish this vista off to perfection. Rhinos, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards and Lions (known as Africa's Big Five) share this habitat with the Cheetah and antelope as they meander across the scene in majestic ownership of this untouched land.

This array of animals lives in an equally diverse biodiversity. The vegetation consists of savannah, thornveld, grasslands and acacia trees. In addition to the flora, an impressive number of bird species occupy the boughs, proving to be a most satisfying sight for avian enthusiasts.

Accommodation

Nambiti Plains Private Game Lodge benefits from fantastic surrounds and 5-star opulence, coupled with authentic South African hospitality. Exclusive privacy is a key priority and, for this reason, the lodge only sleeps a maximum of 10 guests at any one time.

Each of the five suites is elegantly furnished with a definite focus on quality and surpassing guest expectations. Each suite is equipped with heated floors, an outdoor shower, a deck that extends all the way around the suite, sunloungers, an outdoor seating area, ceiling fan, mini bar, mosquito nets, indoor shower, a tea- and coffee station, hairdryer, torch, insect repellent and an inviting bath with unrivalled views of the surrounding bush.

Of the five suites, there is one family suite, which comprises two suites with one entrance. This suite sleeps four people and enjoys all of the comfortable amenities of the other suites with the exception of the outdoor shower.

The Nambiti Lodge itself is nestled within the forest and on the banks of the frequented watering hole. As such, it benefits from its utter luxury combined with the rawness of Africa. It boasts a deck overlooking this watering hole, a swimming pool, reading corner, lounge with a stone fireplace, dining room with two fireplaces and a boma (a traditional African meeting place) in which to enjoy dinner around a crackling log fire.

Dining

At Nambiti Plains Private Game Lodge, the freshest ingredients are used to create South African flavours that tempt and tantalise even the most discerning of palates. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are enhanced by added extras like freshly baked pastries, home-made salsas and other tasty delights. The buffet breakfasts are served in the dining room, while lunches can be savoured on the deck or in the privacy of the guests' suites. Hearty dinners are also served in the dining area, in the boma, or under the high starry skies of Africa. Guests of the lodge may arrange for a private picnic lunch, the details of which will be organised by staff members.

Guests that require vegetarian, vegan, Kosher or Halaal options frequently have to compromise on their dining experience because of limited options. However, Nambiti Lodge has addressed this issue by allowing the creative chefs to create an array of vegetarian, vegan, Kosher and Halaal meals. Certain products are endorsed by the Vegetarian Society and all boast exquisite flavours, colours and textures. In this way, all guests of Nambiti feel as welcome and esteemed as they genuinely are. Food is an integral part of the African cultures and it is of the utmost importance that it is part of the overall Nambiti experience.

Conferences

Corporate guests are well-accommodated at Nambiti Plains. Conference facilities, meals and transport back to the suites after dinner are all part of the service offered to delegates, whether at the lodge for conferences, meetings, brainstorming sessions and training seminars. Single day conferences are also available to guests.

The Conservancy

The Nambiti Conservancy extends for 20 000 hectares and is home to an abundance of fauna and flora. Its rich diversity of vegetation is engraved by the magnificent Sundays River, which creates two waterfalls, each 40 metres high. The azure skies and tall trees are occupied by many bird species, some of which are particularly rare. There are over 30 species of animals in the reserve, in addition to the popular Big Five (Lions, Leopards, Buffaloes, Rhinos and Elephants).

Guided game drives are conducted in open 4 x 4 vehicles, which allow passengers to see as much of the bushveld as possible, while in the safe confines of the vehicle. Bushwalks and trips of the local battlefields are additional activities sure to keep young and old occupied.

Activities

Battlefields
KwaZulu Natal was once the site of vicious wars between the local Zulu tribes and English settlers, who arrived in South Africa to colonise and occupy the land. Several of these violent encounters took place in the area around the reserve. Trained guides are available to take visitors on a fascinating tour of these battlefields. These tours can take place over the course of one day or several days, depending on the amount of detail required. Self-drive opportunities are also available, in which case the lodge will prepare a scrumptious picnic lunch for sustenance and refreshment.

Drakensberg
The Drakensburg Mountain Range is known the world over for its untouched beauty and astounding extensiveness. Apart from stunning hiking-, walking- and cycling trails, the Drakensberg is also ideal for fly fishing, horse riding, 4 x 4 driving, quad biking, golfing, trout fishing, white water rafting and rock climbing. Guests can make a weekend out of visiting this area, or simply indulge in an adventure-filled day, only to return to the lodge for a good pampering.
