Motswari Lodge

FIVE STAR KRUGER PARK LODGE
NATIONAL KRUGER PARK, SOUTH AFRICA

Motswari Lodge is nestled within Motswari Private Game Reserve, which is open to the world acclaimed Kruger National Park. Home
to Africa's Big Five, Motswari Lodge is a four-star facility the boasting warm, luxurious and intimate accommodation.

"Motswari" is the Tswana word that means "to conserve and protect". By upholding these principles in the accommodating and caring
for guests, the family-owners of Motswari Lodge ensure that each visitor enjoys luxurious African hospitality.

This lodge is steeped in tradition, while not negotiating on opulence and comfort. There is a distinct vintage feel to Motswari Lodge, and this works together with cultural diversity to ensure a truly African experience. The reserve comprises 150km2 within the Kruger National Park, which is the natural habitat to most of South Africa's most impressive species of fauna and flora.

Enjoying ideal surrounds, Motswari Lodge promises a fabulous perspective of Southern Africa and its glorious offerings.

Accommodation

Motswari Lodge accommodates up to 30 guests at a time to ensure an exclusive, intimate experience for visitors to the awesome African continent.
15 luxurious suites all enjoy en-suite facilities and air-conditioning to ensure ultimate comfort for the guests during their stay in Africa. Exquisite views of the surrounding bush are relished from the comfort of opulent bungalows. The interior of each suite mirrors the natural beauty of its external environment for an
authentic African encounter.

Gym-addicts will not lack during their stay in Motswari Lodge. However, the
mundane treadmills are replaced by hiking the untamed trails of the African veld and exploring the wild expanse that is home to the local array of wildlife. This type of exercise will prove to be far more relaxing (and perhaps even effective) than sharing a sweaty arena with city slickers.

The conference facilities are equipped and designed with our esteemed corporate visitors in mind. Executives have found Motswari Lodge to be the ideal base from which to execute effective team-building initiatives, product launches and corporate retreats. Conference facilities include air-conditioned rooms, an Internet hotspot and customisable conference facilities, depending on the marketing material and décor required. These specific requirements will need to be discussed with the management of the lodge prior to the function.

Two licensed bars and a crystal-clear swimming pool offer a refreshing oasis during the hot African summer. Motswari Lodge's shop is a convenient resource for tourists to Southern Africa, as they are able to stock up on charming curious that are locally produced without leaving the luxurious comfort of the lodge. The library and art gallery promise a welcome escape for our more culturally-inclined.

Guests have a range of options when deciding on when and how to dine. One
option is to join an expert guide on trail and feast along the way. Alternatively, relax in the lodge's lounge while satisfying your taste buds. However, a must-do dining experience is an outdoors one - enjoy the African summer nights, either under the stars or inside the boma, for those chillier evenings. Bomas are traditional structures wherein important meetings are held. Sumptuous menu items are complimented by an award-winning winelist, made up of local wines, which have gained much acclaim the world over.

Wildlife and Safaris

Motswari Lodge has, as a priority, the unique and varied display of the wildlife in South Africa. An African Wildlife Safari is an absolute must for guests, with the promise of sighting some (or all) of the Big Five, as well as many of the naturally occurring plains game, as they cross the border between Motswari and the Kruger National Park. Our guides combine superior training with priceless experience. In addition, they are from the area, allowing them an insight that could not otherwise be provided.

An extended game drive lasts for 3.5 hours, and is conducted from open Land Rovers at sunrise and during sunset to ensure that guests have the prime opportunity to experience most, if not all, of the local bush inhabitants, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Guided walking safaris are a fantastic alternative (or
addition to your itinerary) to game drives as they offer the expertise of an armed, experienced guide. This is a slower, more thorough way t explore the veld and allows for guests to see, touch and smell their spectacular surrounds. Motswari Lodge staff members are trained to conduct presentations on the local wildlife and are able to answer guest questions with accuracy. Should guests be able to
maintain their energy levels, they have the option of enjoying a total of nine hours a day interacting with the flora and fauna of the area!

In addition to Africa's famous Big Five, there are several other animal species that support and cohabit with these impressive beasts. These include cheetah, wild dogs and naturally occurring antelope and gazelle. The nocturnal animals ensure that sunset drives are unique and eventful, as they are completely different from the animals that frequent the bush during the daylight hours. These comprise, among others, hyena, honey-badger, civet, the bush-baby and owls. Bird watchers are well-rewarded, with over 350 bird species frequenting the area all year round.

Art and Nature

Motswari Lodge was built and furnished with the strong conviction that the link between art and nature can not be denied. By using natural artefacts and local artwork, this relationship has been made manifest in all areas of this unique
African experience. Artwork includes wood, bone and stone and samples are for viewing or purchase from the art gallery at the lodge. A local sculptor's art is also available from the reserve, and visiting artists are urged to contribute t the sculpture garden so that they are able to add to the garden and inspire others visiting Motswari.

Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the sense of inspiration and creativity that is aroused by the rich natural splendour of the environment. Some guests
have even kindly left their pieces behind as relics of their treasured memories.
