The Mallard River Lodge is situated on the southern bank of the Bitou River approximately 4km from the popular coastal resort of Plettenberg Bay. This small, exclusive Lodge boasts spectacular views from each of the free-standing, luxury chalets which have a unique outlook over the Bitou Valley and Wetland with the winding Bitou River running through it. The riverine bush which surrounds Mallard River Lodge is home to a wide variety of wild bird life with flocks of geese and ducks, water birds of all sizes and descriptions, as well as brightly coloured sun birds that come in large numbers to feast on the nectar from flowers in the garden. Conveniently situated in the most spectacular region of the Garden Route, the Mallard River Lodge is close to the town of Plettenberg Bay with its world renowned beaches, shops and restaurants.

Accommodation
A unique feature of the rooms at the Mallard River Lodge are hand painted murals above the beds depicting the different aspects of bird life on the river. Each room features a sitting area complete with a fireplace, mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities. Each unit has its own private deck from which magnificent views can be enjoyed. All bathrooms feature the same luxurious layout with the bath being situated under a large window overlooking the valley. Guests can enjoy birdwatching from the bath as well as from the shower. Underfloor heating and heated towel rails ensure comfort all year round.
Dining
Breakfasts are served in the sunny dining room or out on the deck. During breakfast, guests are advised of places to visit that day, where to eat and shop and any other useful information. Dinners can be arranged by request at the Mallard River Lodge.

Canoes are available for paddling up the river to bird watch and there are numerous hiking trails and walks at the Robberg Nature reserve, Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve or along the stretches of unspoilt beaches nearby. Golfers can try out the two top golf courses close by while horse riding, whale and dolphin watching, bungy jumping, glider trips and other activities can be arranged by the Lodge.
