At the end of the scenic Garden Route in a malaria free region of the Eastern Cape, near the historical town of Grahamstown is Kwandwe Private Game Reserve. Comprising 20 000 hectares of farmland in the Great Fish River region, this is a re-stocked private reserve which offers the opportunity of viewing the most fascinating of African wildlife. Animals roaming this diverse reserve include lion, black and white rhino, buffalo and elephant. Named in Xhosa after South Africa's highly endangered national bird, the Blue Crane, this unique game reserve hosts a population of these rare birds and offers an exceptional safari experience in a historical and culture rich region.

Accommodation:

Kwandwe Private Game Reserve comprises the exclusive Main Lodge, unique historic Uplands Homestead, Ecca Lodge and the newly opened Melton Manor, all offering world-class sophistication African style.

Kwandwe Main Lodge:

Situated on the banks of the Great Fish River amongst magnificent Aloes, suites boast private plunge pools and spacious thatched game viewing decks. Beautiful thatched guest areas with expansive viewing decks overlooking the river.

Uplands Homestead:

This gracious homestead is a carefully restored 1905 farmhouse comprising three spacious en suite bedrooms with private terraces. Uplands Homestead has a large swimming pool and gazebo, and guests have the services of their own private ranger, tracker, chef and open 4x4 safari vehicle.

Kwandwe Ecca Lodge:

Innovative and stylish, Kwandwe Ecca Lodge is a farmhouse where contemporary funk is combined with a futuristic feel. The Ecca Lodge comprises a few private suites with spacious living areas and en suite bathrooms with a view of rolling spekboom valleys. The main guest areas feature a comfortable, spacious sitting room, dining room and bar area, interactive kitchen, sparkling rim-flow lap pool and interesting interpretive centre.

Melton Manor:

This exclusive safari villa enjoys panoramic views of the Great Fish River and features 4 bedrooms with spacious en-suite bathrooms and unique "butler hatches" for discreet room service. Melton Manor is a spacious u-shaped frontier farmhouse with high ceilings and deep verandas overlooking the central courtyard and swimming pool. The Manor has an interactive farm-style kitchen and its own ranger/tracker team with 4x4 safari vehicle at guest's disposal 24 hours a day.
