The Thornybush Private Game Reserve in Limpopo, South Africa, is home to Jackalberry Lodge. This Game Reserve is situated adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park, and comprises 10 500 hectares of unspoiled African bushveld. This lush area boasts a wide array of bird- and animal life, including South Africa's famous 'Big 5'.

These stunning surrounds call to visitors to explore them, and Jackalberry Lodge is the ideal base from which to do this. On-foot safaris and open safari vehicles transport guests through a world of spectacular wildlife, birdlife and vegetation, a true African experience. These animals range from the smallest termite to the tallest giraffe, the adorable mongoose to the imposing buffalo. The powerful lions roar in lazy contemplation as guests unwind around the campfire, under the starry African skies towering overhead.

Jackalberry Lodge consists of 7 well-appointed chalets. Each chalet boasts a welcoming bedroom, en-suite bathroom with a bath and indoor shower, and the added luxury of an outdoor shower.

Climate

The summer months of October to March, see pleasant daytime temperatures ranging from 16ºC to 38ºC. Winter (May to July) drop to a pleasant average of between 5?C and 26?C. In the Limpopo province of South Africa, summers are usually hot and humid, day and night. Winter days tend to be mild and comfortable with chilling evenings and early mornings. The Lowveld enjoys summer rainfall.

Limpopo is a Malaria area, and necessary precautions need to be taken in terms of medication and clothing.

Directions

Thornybush Game Reserve is home to Jackalberry Lodge, and is situated on the cusp of the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Daily flights to Eastgate Airport are scheduled on South African Express Airways. The flight from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg takes approximately one hour.

Eastgate Airport (booking code HDS) is situated just outside Hoedspruit and is an approximate 25-minute drive from Thornybush Game Reserve. Road transfers from this airport to the reserve are also available.
