ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK

Gorah is the first private concession in a National Park. This premier Lodge is set in the 14 000 hectare malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park, amidst the densest elephant population on earth.

Accommodation
The spacious and luxurious tented suites exude an atmosphere of romance associated with the golden safari era of the early 1900’s - yet comply fully with the standards of comfort and excellence required by Africa’s finest modern game lodges.

The opulence of noble safari lives on in the immaculately restored, colonial style Gorah House. Dating from 1856, this gracious house has been furnished in a romantic style from the period. The hallmarks of a Hunter Hotels property are apparent in generous verandas opening onto the African plains, and the luxury tented suites with thatched canopies, comfortable king-sized beds and private terraces that dot the panoramic landscape. Guests can be assured of personalised, warm and unobtrusive service with careful attention to detail.

Dining
Guests have the choice of dining by candle-light in the elegant dining room, or whilst relaxing on verandas overlooking the waterhole. Evening brings the sound of splashing water as animals arrive to drink adding to the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity, which is the magic of the bush.

At night in the boma, guests are invited to experience the African tradition of cooking and eating under the stars and during the day to take advantage of its beautiful rock swimming pool and sundecks.

Wildlife
The Gorah wildlife experience is totally unique. Guests can experience the majesty of elephant herds gathering by the waterhole, or close encounters of the matchless kind – Addo offers arguably the best elephant viewing in South Africa. This is also home to herds of Cape Buffalo, the Black Rhino, lion, numerous antelope species and a great variety of bird life. Hyenas have also recently been introduced.
