MPUMALANGA LODGE ACCOMMODATION

Camp Shonga, located in the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains in the famous 15000 hectare private Kruger National Park, is a small and intimate bush retreat offering guests the opportunity of experiencing Africa first hand.

The focus at the camp is to not only provide luxury and superior service available, but to have a minimum impact on the surrounding habitat by creating a balance between the people and their environment.

The famous "Big 5" can be viewed here. Experienced and highly trained guides are pleased to share their experiences and knowledge on the surrounding areas and eco-systems while inviting guests to participate in the environmental awareness programmes.

Game can be viewed from open vehicles, from your room or on foot. Evening dinners can be enjoyed with traditional cuisine around a boma fie under a starlit African sky.

Accommodation

Camp Shonga offers accommodation of up to 10 guests separated into the choice of 5 individual tents.

Guests can choose to visit Camp Shonga by
air or on road - directions and information below:

By Air
  • Fly to KMIA, (nearest airport).
  • Drive to the N4 through Malelane
  • Drive and stay on the N4 for about 40km until the left turn into Komatipoort
  • Drive through the Komatipoort town towards Crocodile Bridge gate (8km)
  • Once inside the Kruger National Park, travel for 4km and cross the Vurhami Bridge.
  • Turn right at the first Shishangeni Lodge sign board onto a gravel road
  • Turn right at the second sign board for Shishangeni Lodge (no entry sign)
  • Drive for about another 10km
  • This road will take you straight to the lodge
  • Guests will be transferred from Shishangeni to Shonga Camp
By Road from the Nearest CBD
  • Drive through the Komatipoort town towards Crocodile Bridge gate (8km)
  • Once inside the Kruger National Park, travel for 4km and cross the Vurhami Bridge.
  • Turn right at the first Shishangeni Lodge sign board onto a gravel road
  • Turn right at the second sign board for Shishangeni Lodge (no entry sign)
  • Drive for about another 10km
  • This road will take you straight to the lodge. Guests will be transferred from Shishangeni to Shonga Camp.
