The Buhala Game Lodge is an opulent 4-star retreat nestled along the inside border of the Kruger National Park in the stunning South African province of Mpumalanga. The Crocodile River is situated on its doorstep and is the waterhole of a variety of Africa's most beautiful animals. Local residents include elephants, hippos and many antelope species. They can be spotted from the ample verandah or from the side of the refreshing crystal waters of the swimming pool as they drink the water of the river under the hot African sun.

Sumptuous meals and top quality wines are best enjoyed on the deck, creating a sense of peaceful romance and natural allure. These elegant surrounds provide the perfect escape for visitors, whether from South Africa or abroad, in which to relax and absorb the magical mysticism that defines this exquisite land.

Accommodation

There are ten gorgeous rooms available at Buhala Game Lodge. Each is beautifully furnished and is fitted with convenient amenities to ensure that guests feel comfortable and pampered. There are six Standard Rooms, two Balcony Rooms and two Elephant Garden Suites available, each of which has en-suite bathroom facilities with a separate bath and shower. These suites each sleep two people. Standard facilities in every room include air-conditioning, a fan, a heater, a safe and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
Guests are sure to savour the delicious meals and take advantage of the well-stocked wine cellar, brimming with excellent vintages for the wine connoisseur or the occasional sampler.

Activities

Spa
The day spa at Buhala Game Lodge is concealed on an open deck in the heart of the African bushveld, from where the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River guarantee some of the most spectacular views imaginable, while indulging in a deserved pampering. Treatments are administered by trained therapists and include hot rock massages, back and neck massages, facials, foot treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Golfing
Guests that wish to work on their game of golf will enjoy a day spent on the Leopard Creek Country Club green. This course is of superior quality and is situated near Malelane. It offers world-class facilities in unrivalled surrounds.

The Kruger National Park
The world-acclaimed Kruger National Park remains one of the most popular and desirable destinations. It is home to an impressive array of fauna and flora. Buhala is situated conveniently close to the Malelane entrance of the park and offers trained guides, who conduct daily game drives in open vehicles as well as night drives and guided walks for a far more intimate African encounter. However, guests that prefer to take in the tranquil ambience of the lodge will also be privy to excellent game viewing opportunities from the lodge's deck.

The province of Mpumalanga is particularly beautiful, yielding fantastic views and welcome retreats from the hustle and bustle of city living. There is plenty to see and do, delighting young and old alike. The natural abundance of the area promises stunning photo opportunities and unforgettable memories. God's Window, Pilgrim's Rest and a number of thundering waterfalls are only some of the nearby attractions.

Mpumalanga is close to Mozambique and Swaziland, both of which are a two-hour drive away, allowing Buhala's guests convenient access to other popular destinations in southern Africa.

Buhala Game Lodge is situated on a family farm, which is lovingly tended and professionally cultivated. Several nature trails are available on the farm, inviting those guests who want to maintain their fitness regime or explore the surrounds on foot. These can be done at a leisurely pace or more intensively for the fitter hikers. Mpumalanga's Panorama Route is a fantastic opportunity for exploration. It boasts villages of local artwork, ancient rock formations, waterfalls and the famous Blyde River Canyon.

Wildlife enthusiasts are likely to spend hours watching the 200 + species of birds or any of the many game and herbivore species. Birds include bee eaters, owls, loeries, kingfishers, fish eagles, weavers, green pigeons, swallows, swifts, bul buls, drongos and colourful parrots. Many of these species are visible and audible from the verandah, which proves to be an idyllic venue for absolute serenity and escapism.

Location

The Buhala Game Lodge is situated just inside the Kruger National Park's borders in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The capital city of this province is Nelspruit, which is a major city and a popular tourist attraction, equipped with all of the amenities and facilities that local and international visitors require. Buhala is a quarter of an hour's drive from the Malelane Gate in Kruger.

Directions

Travelling on the N4 highway you would go through Nelspruit come to a village called Malelane.
From the Malelane village you continue on the N4 for another 12kms after which on the left you will see our large white gate posts clearly marked BUHALA COUNTRY HOUSE, BUHALA GAME LODGE and KENWORTHY ESTATE.

Turn left through the gates, cross the railway line with care; continue for 2,4 km and you will arrive at BUHALA GAME LODGE which has a common gate with the farm house. At this point you take the right hand fork to BUHALA and not the straight ahead road to the farm house.
