Approximately 400 bird species have been observed in the wetlands surrounding the Amakhosi Game Lodge - this is truly a piece of paradise in the African bush. The design and décor of Amakhosi Game Lodge has been inspired by the local Zulu community who play an important role in the running of the lodge. In keeping with African tradition, the staff members at the Amakhosi Game Lodge, who are mostly Zulu, have helped build a traditional Zulu Kraal which forms part of the lodge and where traditional Zulu dancing is offered as entertainment for guests. Amakhosi Game Lodge enjoys magnificent river frontage. The main lodge is situated on the Riverbanks with the regal River Suites offering special views of the flowing Mkuze River. The en-suite bathroom with its unique bath made for two is superbly indulgent with an array of candles and bath salts adding to the tranquil and serene atmosphere. Game Viewing: Animals are prolific at the Amazulu Private Game Reserve despite the dryness. Great game viewing is ensured around the many beautiful dams and waterholes. Cheetahs have proved successful in the reserve and elephant herds provide guests with hours of excitement as they move through the bush satisfying their hunger and thirst. There is no better accompaniment to an African sunset than watching a herd of elephants enjoying their evening bath at one of the dams. Early morning and late afternoon guided walks and game drives into the African bush with qualified game rangers provide guests at the Amakhosi Game Lodge with the opportunity to observe the fascinating behaviour of wild animals in their natural habitat. The abundance of flora and fauna, both on the ground and in the air ensures an exciting and diverse experience.
